Following up our Whiteboard Friday last week about GeoTargeting, we’re happy to announce the GeoTargeting Detection Tool. This tool will help you determine how well your site is targeted to country specific search engines. It examines several factors that the search engines use to determine location, including where the website is physically hosted, the TLD, and the presence of a street address on the page. It also shows you whether you’re listed in the major local engines (Google Local, Yahoo Local, and Live Search Local) and provides insight about other factors you should consider when optimizing for a country specific search engine, such as language and backlinks.
