Blog drama, Does it really work?

OK I’ve seen some blog owners start fights for the silliest things. i know its a good way to create a buzz between readers but i want to know how effective is it really? I mean yea its always good to have people talking about you but is it planned ? or does it just happen and the people end up running with it?

I’m curious to know since there’s an interesting issue going on with TylerCruz and JohnCow.com over who knows Sergio first( Sosfactory dot Com).

here are little previews of the convo going on.

Tyler Cruz dot Com seems to have found the same logo/mascot designer as we used for our header, Sosfactory dot Com, but it looks like he’s trying to pull a cheap trick to con his readers! He’s claiming that that mascot of his was “just” $500 and that anyone that wants a “cheap” mascot like that too, needs to contact him. What a load of cow-crap! Those logo’s run for a couple of hundred dollars less! Not only does it look like he is trying to con his readers by making them pay more and pocket the difference, he’s also is not supporting the awesome Sosfactory guys that did his logo design this way. Not cool Tyler.

Many of you wonder why I did not divulge who they were. I went through this before already when I found a new vBulletin skinning company: good freelance work, logo designers, vBulletin skinners, and yes, even cartoon and mascot designers are hard to find. For web publishers like me who seek the best, they are truly rare gems to find.

So with all this said what do you guys think? is it a good way to create a buzz? its certainly working for these to as you will see this on quite a few webmaster forums.

I think it works great for bloggers who have a name or status. because people are following these bloggers and will also add their 2 cents in these debates and drama, now creating double the traffic or in this case 3 times.

Its almost the same way that rap artists create the “battles and beef issues” so they can also sell some records and increase or boost sales..

i totally agree with your comment. I guess its a great way to get a buzz going since everyone likes controversy.
